WDD – Siobhan’s Return!

After a few months’ hiatus and foray into mommyhood, I’m finally getting back into the swing of things.  For you this week is something I’ve been fiddling with for quite some time, and I think I’m starting to like it.

Everybody says cowboys are the way to go, so I’m going that way.  Here you meet Anna Scott, photographer and all-around city girl.  She has just stumbled upon an argument that isn’t going well for either party and is trying really hard not to listen.  Don’t worry, ladies… our boy here won’t be upset for long.

Working Title: Picture Perfect
Genre: Contemporary Cowboy Romance

Anna’s room was just beyond that one, so there was no way she could go by unnoticed.   And she hated to interrupt and risk embarrassing one or both of them, so she closed her eyes and waited, hoping she would be able to forget the sounds.

“I can’t do this anymore,” the woman snapped.  No, Anna wasn’t listening… the chick was just loud.

“Well don’t,” he replied, his heavily-accented voice fiery and hurt.  “If you can’t do it anymore, then leave.”

“I paid for the room.”

“No, you signed for the room that my father paid for, and I don’t think he would appreciate finding out what you’ve done.”

“What I’ve done?” the woman snarled, and Anna heard the stomp of her booted foot even on the industrial carpet.  “I haven’t done a thing.”

“You slept with another man – or you would have had I not come back when I did.”

“I wasn’t going to sleep with him.”

“So you sitting in his lap in nothing but a pair of heels with his hands on your ass and his tongue in your mouth doesn’t constitute cheating to you?”

WDD #4: Under the Mistletoe

We’re back!  This week’s selection comes from a free read up on The Romance Studio’s Party Site.  It’s short, sweet, contemporary, holiday, and military(ish) all in one.  If you like the dozen, feel free to hop over and read the rest.  Oh, and comment over there for a chance to win something!

Eh… why not?  While I’m at it, one lucky commenter this week will win something too.  Leave me a comment with an email address and tell me which one of THESE BOOKS you might want.  On December 26th, we’ll pick a winner, and that person will get whichever book he or she wants.

“Okay, wait here. I have to go get something.”

“it’s worth it,” he said as he brushed past her and took off down the dock. “I promise. Oh! Keep looking at the water!”

Rhea growled, but did as he said while he lumbered away. It really was a beautiful place, even if it carried bittersweet memories. Without Sebastian’s bulk there to block the wind, her skin prickled with cold and she began to regret ever listening to him. This had to be one of the craziest plots she’d ever been privy to, at least without Jimmy there.

“Keep facing the water!” Sebastian called out again as she heard him trot back across the wooden planks of the dock. Rhea rolled her eyes as she crossed her arms over her body. A moment later, he appeared in front of her, nearly overshooting his landing and toppling into the water.

But wait… THERE’S MORE!

WDD #3: Marked

We’re going old-school with this one… all the way back to May!

The following comes from my first story, Marked, released in May 2011 by Sugar & Spice Press.  This is the story in which events planner Tabitha Richardson (who just so happens to be a witch) crosses paths with an intimidating Alpha-male Werewolf by the name of Russel Tennyson.  The sparks (and the fur!) fly, and Russell cajoles our prim little witch in to some serious public displays affection.  Enjoy!

“Midnight is approaching,” he said, his voice low in the silence of the garden.

Oh, right. Wolf.

“What…what does that mean?” Tabitha drew in a shaky breath, and her sense of peace vanished. In the space of a breath, she realized she was alone with this man—no, not man…monster, and while she wanted him with every fiber of her being, she was also terrified of him. Not because he was a werewolf, but because he was strangely calm for someone about to succumb to frenzy, and because she was so drawn to him despite the inherent danger. Or maybe it was because of the danger. Hell, she didn’t even know anymore!

“It means, little Tabby,” he said, and a low, satisfied growl escaped him, “that it is time for the dogs and the cats to play.”

“Aren’t you going to…” She hesitated, and looked up at him through her eyelashes.  He was watching her intently, and it made her swallow hard. “…you know?”

“What do I know?” A smirk curled one corner of his mouth.

WDD #2 – The NaNo Edition

Round Two of the Weekend Dirty Dozen is upon us, and for the next four weekends, I will be posting selected bits and pieces of my NaNoWriMo work in progress.  It still doesn’t have a title (but then again, most of my stuff doesn’t because I suck at titles), but it’s rolling along nicely and will hopefully be finished long before the end of November.

In this scene, Jared and Krista are drunk, they were play-fighting, and he has decided to take advantage of an already unfair situation.

~+Contemporary Romantic Mystery+~

When her grip on his wrists loosened, it was easy for Jared to wrap his arms around her and roll to one side, pulling her under him.  She never once tried to fight him, but rather ceded control and allowed him full access to her mouth.  Her body was warm and soft in his hands, and she tasted like Italian spices and wine.  A low, throaty purr rang in his ears, but he couldn’t be sure whether it had come from him or her.  Her arms went around him, those neatly manicured fingernails scraping lightly along the back of his neck.

Then the sobering reality of his situation washed over him like a bucket of cold water.  He was half-drunk, rolling around on the floor while racing for second base with his best friend.

Jared broke the connection and sat up, pressing his back against the arm of the couch while pushing his thumbs into his eyes.  What an idiot… he couldn’t believe he’d acted on such a stupid impulse.

“What’s wrong?” she asked, still breathless.  Or was he hearing things?  Had he really made her sound like that?

WDD #1 – Blood Doll

It’s a weekly writing thing.  OF COURSE I’m going to jump in!

It seems fitting that the first one should come from my latest work, releasing this weekend (October 29th to be exact) through Sugar & Spice Press.  When it goes live, click the banner to buy it!

~+Paranormal Erotic Romance+~

The Dozen (Rated R):

“I can make it easier on you,” he said, holding her gaze with those strange eyes. While she watched, he lifted his other wrist to his mouth and drew his teeth across the skin. Blood pooled there, and with the tiniest of smiles, brought his arm up to his tongue, where he gathered the liquid. The fingers under Lana’s chin moved to her throat, then the back of her head as he towed her close. With his own blood on his lips, he brought her mouth to his. The bitter, metallic taste filled her mouth and her eyes drifted closed. For a moment Lana thought she would be sick, but then the world around her seemed to slow down. Her limbs grew heavy, yet at the same time she felt completely weightless. His arms encased her, and she felt like she was flying. Christian continued to kiss her, the steady back-and-forth swipe of his tongue over hers, teasing at her lips, his teeth nipping at her tongue as it ventured forward to tangle around his.

Her back hit something soft that she vaguely registered as the mattress. Christian broke the connection between their mouths only long enough to pull her sweater over her head and remove his T-shirt.

The Blurb:

Lana Roberts has come to Boston searching for her twin sister, Sarah. The last place Sarah was seen is an underground club called The Mausoleum. Not realizing what she has gotten herself into, Lana enters, only to find herself in the company of a seductively frightening vampire named Christian Sterling – the only creature in the place that wants to help her. But there’s one problem.

Lana is still human.

If she goes back into The Mausoleum, she’ll be killed, but Christian has a plan…if he can only convince her to go along with it. Can a pair of Halloween costumes, the sexy stranger she has found herself falling for, and a little bit of unorthodox behavior save the day? And just how long can Lana keep telling herself she doesn’t want him?
